What or who inspired you to become an artist?
I love to draw and paint every day in my life, it’s vital for me, without art I will not exist. I was always drawing when I was a child, and I have never stopped . Some great artist give me the energy to continue in this way, I think about Frida Kahlo . I discovered on your blog Vali Myers, by the way thanks for sharing, and I feel completely amazed by this woman.
I think that Nature is my first inspiration, after that toys, women, curiosity, my eyes are open wide all the time…
What do you think the next evolution in your style with be?
I just know that I want to work on big size painting and keeping the fact that it will be with a lot of details. I was living in belgium and travel in Netherlands and I was totally feel in love with the Flemish painters, like Jerome Bosch and Bruegel, and a lot of anonymous painters who made a lot of creepy, surrealistic and wonderful art. An other important point for me, I am very inspired by the japanese culture, vintage from the 50′ to the 70′, representation of the devils in art and different culture, magic from the 19th . so let’s mixed all this influence and I just wait to see what will be my new secret ingredient.
Do you have any personal projects you work on just for your own happiness?
(Art or Non Art related)
I have a nice project for next year in Paris, it’s a huge group show and I have one installation to create. I will be a performer, I will make some live painting, so people can see me inside my art. I can’t tell more , just it will be in MAY 2012 in Paris.
I just have also a lot’s of painting and drawing inside my head, I am concentrated on my painting and drawing for the upcoming shows.
What is your routine before you sit down and start working on a new piece of work, or do you even have one?
I don’t have a routine, but I always need to listening music when I am working. Music is my adrenaline. I can listening some hardcore bands, new wave, pop, rock’n’roll but my favorite is the Stoner Music. Love to listen, when I start working Neurosis
Can you describe your process?
For my ideas, it’s depends of my inspirations, what’s happening in my personal life, my travels , and what I feel inside my heart. I made a lot of sketches and have always with me my notebook. I found for my collage some old books on flea market, vintage store, love the old books they have a past, they are an objet’s history, a mystery, for me it’s a very powerful object. The pages that I used for my collage have a connection with the subject on my painting. After that I paint and draw, hours after hours with doom music. That’s why I love to say that my art is Nekro kawaï, a mix between dark and cute feelings, inspirations.
What makes you counter productive?
sincerely, don’t know, it’s in me, I need to draw, paint all the time.
Since you work in mixed media what would you say is your favorite medium to work in?
I love all the process, I can’t choose that’s why I keep going on this way.
Do you have any favorite muses?
My toys and women are my favorites muses.
What do you consider “Punk” in this era?
It’s not an easy question. Punk is not the same than the beginning of the movement. But for me it’s : be yourself , continue to fight and create.
