Adam Wallacavage what can i say about him. Well first of all everything he makes i absolutely adore. He is an incredibly talented photographer, has a creative keen sense for interior design, as well as making some of the most unique lighting i have seen in a very long time.
Also it is always a pleasure to be in his company. So basically hes all around great and you should check out his work.
Do you have anything upcoming you would like to talk about?
So far this year I had a solo show in Sao Paulo, Brazil at Choque Cultural gallery then my first West Coast solo show at Corey Helford gallery then I made 6 more chandeliers for a museum show in Paris just after making 7 new chandeliers for a show in Las Vegas. Right now I’m trying to take it easy and am just working on my house for the Summer. Next, I will be showing the Paris work at the Parlor Gallery in Asbury Park, NJ during the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. Next year I’m having my first Philadelphia solo show at the Philadelphia Art Alliance.

What made you start designing and creating chandeliers?
Simply out of wanting things I couldn’t find or afford. It’s fun making things from scratch or from various found objects and plugging them in.
What do you think the next evolution in your style with be?
I’ve been wondering that myself. I’m trying to work on a new room in my house which I’m calling the Gothic Bollywood room. I’m hoping to figure something out while making that. I work kinda slow when it come to my house but when the ideas come, I work really fast.
Do you have any personal projects you work on  just for your own happiness?
(Art or Non Art related)

Well, my house for sure. I’ve been working on my backyard a lot over the past month and I’m about to do a bunch of mosaics with my artist friend, Jodi Rice who did the existing mosaics back there. I’m also working on redoing the bay window on the back of my house. My house is a Victorian Brownstone and there’s not much I can do to it on the exterior so the bay will be fun to fix up. I’m going to dress it with hand cut cedar shingles and do a wild crown molding on the top. I’m just waiting on scaffolding cause it’s really high up there.
What is your routine before you sit down and start working on a new piece of work, or do you even have one?
( i have to be completely left alone with no distractions so i usually work late at night)

I do a million unrelated things then get paranoid and then I usually kick something out really fast.
Can you describe your process?
First I’ll start to clean my studio then I’ll go downstairs and look online then I’ll completely forget what I was doing and then I’ll start some other project. Maybe I’ll remember to back to the studio because I left the radio on and that will remind me to finish cleaning it but then I’ll go back downstairs again and forget what I was doing or why I came downstairs. Eventually somehow I’ll actually get some work done. It could be the laundry or it could be watering the plants or cleaning the bird cages or if I’m lucky, building a chandelier. I’m really good with deadlines however. I’m amazed by how many chandeliers I made last Winter and Spring. I think it’s the heat here in the Summer that melts my brain.

What makes you counter productive?
Everything

Since you are very multi talented, what would you say is your favorite medium to work in?

I really don’t have a favorite. I just do what I am drawn to doing. I suppose I think about the other things I like doing while doing the thing I am doing at the moment. (I’m not going to re-write that last line on purpose because it’s so stupid and I like it)

Do you have any favorite muses?
I used to but I’m a bit jaded these days. I don’t know if that’s true. I’m rather tortured by muses right now. I suppose it’s good because I’ve been making things I really like but it gets tiring after a while and it’s been a really long while.

What do you consider “Punk” in this era?
Art,Style,Music.
That’s a hard one. Maybe shaving and dying poodles to look like other animals? Homeschooling your kids so that they don’t know certain types of animals exist, like giraffes and then you bring them to the zoo when they are 18 and totally freak them out? That would be cool.

Appreciating the hard work you put into your site and detailed information you provide. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed information. Fantastic read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.
