In 1985 i discovered Vali Myers at my local book store through this book. I was immediately fascinated with her. She was a true bohemian and to me the embodiment of what an artist was. I was 13 years old.
She had facial tattoos, a pet fox and lived in a 14th century cottage in a secluded remote valley near Il Porto, i guess it would have been strange not to be enthralled.
Vali Myers remains ever intriguing even after her death in 2003.
Her pen and ink drawings (and Nick Blinko’s work) were both early influences for me.
I still look at her work for inspiration. I treasure this book and wanted to share it with you.
